RSI Cables Problem

I was adjusting my rsi oil pump cable and found that it was way too tight with no more adjustment, of course this was with the engine in and carbs and airbox installed. So I removed the airbox and carbs and adjusted the jam nut as far as it would go on the oil pump bracket. This still did not give me enough cable so I had to bend the bracket and finally that gave me just enough to be in the middle at the 21 mm factory spec.

Anyways with that issue solved I have another one, the cables feel rough and are very hard to pull? They were very loose when not connected to anything but under load they are rough. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I would love to run stock yamaha viper mountain cables but they are too short.

i put the rsi cables on my 02 viper and i know i could not set the cable the way yamaha specifies due to the cable not pulling apart, i measured my oil pump arm from start to stop and set it up like that similar to the way cat does it, as far as the rough ness goes, i would check the routing if the cable is extra long it may be causing this resistance. good luck. too bad yamaha doesnt offer gytr cables in the acc. department that would be great

They are a pain in the @$$ to get setup. and as for the cables being rough and hard to pull mine were too, so i shot a bit of wd-40 in each cable and repeatedly pushed the throttle to get it to go all the way through. After this pushing the throttle feels just as easy as stock.

I could never get mine to work properly. I would think they must get alot of complaints. I had one set that the cable pulled out of the crimp, they pulled hard, even after lub. they just suck

Thanks guys, I'm glad this is an issue with all of them and not just mine. I am going to send an email to RSI about these, they are unacceptable.

Agreed

They suck. The oil pump cable can not be adjusted properly (loose enougn) and they pull hard as hell. Took mine off and threw it out.

I have the "Silver Braided" RSI xtra long cables on three of my sleds and now on my SRXs racked TMX 38s[from a 800 XCR].
I have not experienced the binding issue but I did have to trim the length of the metal cable end on the throttle side that inserts into the throttle handle to allow for more cable slack/adjustment.
