srx recoil.....what goes in slot at top?

Tere is a slot at the top of the recoil cover, and I cant seem to find anyting in my parts bags that would go in there.

Any ideas?

microfiche online shows maybe a rope older, but it doesnt make sense based on its location

its just a slot, nothing goes there. the optional rope guide would mount elsewhere, just behind the metal tab on the chaincase outer housing.

that slot is probably for checking the timing.
