I have a 1989 yammie exciter 570 and i was wondering if one of the comet clutch springs would work in the stock primary clutch? I am clueless on where i can get a stronger primary clutch spring for the stock primary clutch. I talked to a guy at a local powersports shop and he said he only knows that he can get a stock spring. Any help?

springs get weak overtime due to heat and cold ... i have the same sled and what is wrong with your comet clutch? i had 2 sitting in front of me last year but now just 1. its simple to check if it will work. just remove the 6 bolts off the front plate and plate springs and come off then check height width and diameter.to match..you ever thought your problem could be the weights?

I dont have a comet clutch but i have a stock YPZ (i think) clutch. I have the stock primary on mine and i was wondering if a comet spring would work in the stock primary clutch. i dont have a clutch puller to get mine off so i was just wondering if anyone has ever exchanged those before.
Comet springs will not work. Need to run a spring from a ypz or older clutch.

damn kids steve you should know this buy now that they do work just take a dremmel and grind the inside of the sping till it fits for a ex 570 witht he ypz primary (stock clutch) the comet yellow green works great with the 82m weights ...........did this years ago ...........as far as a bolt it nope but there are plenty of yamaha ypz springs out there that work very well
