I have 2-'02 yamaha vipers, one runs like a top and the other just doesnt seem the same. As far as i know they're all stock, the one just doesnt seem to idle as high or have as much power when throttled. Just wondering if i'm overlooking something or whats the problem?? any help appreciated, Thanks!

I would start by assessing both sleds condition, compression checks, clean carbs condition of plugs etc. then post your findings and their are lots of guys on here who'll help you out.

both sleds just had a once over (carbs and clutch cleaned, new pugs, etc etc etc) everything was fine.. Never rode the one sled before though as i just purchased it this year recently. Thought the mechanic would have caught it, but maybe not? Maybe just a fluke and bad gas coming through or something? seemed to have a little extra smoke in the exhaust as well.

Like gil said a compression check is in order. That will at least give us an idea if the engine is healthy. I have 3 vipers and they are all a touch different.

I would say the 2 things that have the biggest impact towards what your talking about are the carbs and power valves. You say you just bought the one, any ideas what previous owner may have done with it? Clip position/jetting wise? I would tear into carbs and see what they are set up for and check them power valves.
