I have an 02 viper and my back cant handle the abuse of the rough trails anymore. I rode one that had a 136 and didn't feel as beat up at the end of the day but I'm not sure if I should extend mine or swap it out for a different skid and suspension. Any advice as well as what extensions or skids work best are greatly appreciated.

I'd dump the proaction asap. A 136" m-10 would work great if you could find one or a polaris edge or iq skidframe would work nice also. The jump to 136" is worth it imo. I like Tracks usa rail extensions if you were to go that route with a Hartman tunnel extension. I have thousands of miles on these two items and they are very well built. Honestly just about any modern suspension is gonna be great compared to a proaction.

Extending the Viper and getting the shocks revalved will make a world of difference on the Pro Action. As mention the M10, ExpertX,ZX2 and even the Mono from a newer Apex would still be better than the Pro Action.
Hartmann tunnel and rail ext. worked very well on my Viper.

The best riding upgrade we have done is to install a Boss Seat. With the seat 5" higher the riding position is so much better and comfortable. The ability to transition on the seat is also a great advantage. It is not uncommon for us to ride 200 + miles a day.

I made a seat riser a few years ago. Found the plans on here somewhere. I also added the rox pivoting riser and dually carbides on some USI skis. Thanks for all the input. I am pretty handy but mostly a motor guy so I am a little concerned with the technical aspects of swapping out the skid. The sled handles great I just want a smoother ride. I should have done this upgrade over the summer but got busy with other projects. Any ty'ers in nw indiana have any experience with this and be willing to help out? I will supply the beer!

The mod is pretty much straight forward. Not too technical. Hartmann supplies good directions. The ride was alot smoother but did lose a few mph on the top end.
The only thing I had a problem with was getting the front end to bite in the corners after the mod was done. Ended up using aggressive SnowTrackers on stock skis to solve that problem. Put over 1500 trouble free miles in that configuration.

Any chance your pro action is just set up for a rider 60-70lbs heavier than you? Betheviper has some great links right in his signature on skid/ski set up. Give them a read, maybe you can get closer to what your looking for with some adjustment.....alot easier and cheaper than long tracking/skid swapping. You stated your more of a motor guy, if you can get there with adjusting it would be good practice for a skid transplant!
