Going to wire in a plug for my heated shield on my 2000 SRX. I know I have read on here to wire it to the blue wire under the handlebar pad. I was just wondering what this wire was to? Is this the best place to wire it to? I haven't done any voltage reading on it yet. Just ground it to a clean bolt? Just curious whether to put an inline fuse or not. Should I just put the neg to a clean bolt. You guys here make my job so much easier by answering all of these simple questions because I know you all have been there and done that. Thanks in advance.
its the wire that goes to the headlight dimmer switch. Just ground it(heated shield ground) on the frame, good spot is the top where the plastic shroud has a phillips head screw. sand off the paint where screw hole is, I just put on a eyelet on wire and slip under the plastic shroud, reinstall screw.

Alright, I am probably going to do the install tonight. Thanks for the reply. I am also eventually going to put a 12v outlet in. Does anyone think this is too much? I don't have a battery because I dont hae E-start but I could always wire one up if it's advisable.

Outlet for a GPS? or other? I would tend to think with the hotter wattage of the 00 you wouldnt need a battery for just the gps, If your want to run other stuff as well I would suggest a batttery of some sort. Will help out the smoothing coil as well as have a hot outlet when the sled isnt running. At that point you might as well install e start.
