New to this can someone tell me if a 8DN-20 cdi box form a 2001 SRX can replace a 8DN-30 on a 2002 SRX. I have a 2002 and the cdi not working no fire in the middle cylinder. I got a used on but its from a 2001 the port are the same.

SXR to SRX would not be the same. SRX has powervalves SXR doesnt, completely different engines. 01 to 02 srx I believe would fire the sled but 02 has DCS which is controlled by the CDI 01 doesnt so at the very least DCS would be inoperable

2001 SRX CDI = 8DN-20
2002 SRX CDI = 8DN-30

2001 SRX CDI will work fine in a 2002 but you will loose the protection that the DCS system provides as it will no longer function.

those sleds have a 3d ign, so youd need to swap the coil from 1 cylinder to the next to see if its the coil, or possibly the flywheel is rusted on that magnet. I dont think its the cdi box if it fires the other 2 cylinders.

I try that and now that and no luck wen i use the 2001cdi it work find but now i got and other problem. I got to take 1 light out because if i dont hand warmer an RPM dont work. but wen i unplug a light if all find have you ever seen that

Yep its working with a 2001 CDI but now i got and other problem. I dont get enough voltage if i unplug a haed light it work find if I plug both hand warmer and RPM sometime dont work, do you think its the recifier are the stater have you any idea Thanks

Sorry its a SRX 2002 that I have

sounds like you dont have very much power coming from the stator or the harness is rubbed thru and letting it arc to ground eating up the power.

How can i check if its the stator.

I had somewhat of a similiar problem on an 98. It turned out to be the wire harness had rubbed thru and was grounding out to the bulkhead under the motor below the oil pump. Yamaha had a dealer tech notice on this years ago. Check there.

if you have to unhook the headlight bulbs and other current eating devices to get it to run, i will say for sure its weak or the harness has grounded out, the harness would be the first thing I would pull from under the engine. theres tons of information on this harness repair here, its a common problem.

then check the stator wires at the plugs over by recoil see if they are corroded and all green in the connector.

you can do the basic ohm check on the stator, but i would also do a voltage check and see what kind of output it has with a good pull, should show over 10volts.
