Has anyone had trouble keeping their pan protectors fastened in place?.. Got what I believe is an OEM unit and it has been ripped off twice...

Seems that snow melts from the heat exchanger and freezes, collecting as big blocks of ice just below the control arms... As soon as I launch from a mogul or hill and the front suspension extends, it tears the shield right off... Rivits have broken completely and pulled through too..

Anyone else with similar problems... Thing just doesn't seems to handle ice build up too well..

thanks

You could shave the area of the plate around the radius rods so that ice wont build up in there and when your front travel isnt under a load theres nothing there to hit. This would be the simplest idear i can think of for now. Make sure you tip it on its side and check to make sure your rods wont hit the plate we had to do this to my neighbors viper because his lower rod would hit on full extension no problems yet.

I installed mine last year and still holding. Never have any problems with it. Did you install large washers with the rivets. Or is the rivet pulling out the other side.

this lasst time it came off, I had washers installed on the inside to keep rivit from pulling through... the rivits actually broke... the flange on the outside broke right of... OEM rivits.... Must be a hell of a force when all is jammed tight with ice...

on mine i used small bolts in the top 4 holes and steel rivets with large heads on the holes underneath. also i trimmed off the two "ears" under the radius rods, they reduce your clearance by about two inches and will not protect tour radius rods if you hit anything. never had a problem with this set up. hope it helps.

on my sxr i poped all 4 rivets by the front heat exchanger. mine was dealer installed. the rivets themselves separated with half still in the bellypan and the other half still in the protector.
