Hey guys what type of head is on the screw holding the hyfax on? I'm in the process right now trying to replace mine but the head is a little rusty and I cant exactly tell. Standard phillips? Hex?
Ok, I just read in the tech section that it is a phillips but how about the install? Do I need to use any loctite on these?

it is a large philips head.Give it a good tap first and some lube.An impact style drill may help loosen it also.

I use a #3 phillips head.
Man what a little pita that was but got it done. So know whats the proper break-in for these? Can you do a few heat cycles with the a** end in the air or is it best to run it in the field? I am on to some carb cleaning before I fire it up. Dang I cant wait to hear that triple for the first time of the season.
Oh yeah i forgot to add - the old hyfax was a pain to get off but the new was easy to get back on and has a little wiggle room to it. Normal??

I change the phillips out for a stainless allen screw. I also put some antiseize compound on them. Makes them much easier to work with.
If you have to, break the hyfax off and use a pair of vise grips.

Stainless and aluminum dont play well together.
I used some teflon coated steel with hex heads.
