I ordered all 3 OEM pump to carb fuel lines for my '98 SRX 700. What I received was one pinkish thick walled line for the mag side carb(long) and 2 paper thin-walled clear lines for the middle and pto side carbs(short).

Has anyone else ordered these lines through a dealer? I am confused as to why the mag side would get a high quality line and the other carbs basically get fish tank line. The ID is the same on all 3, but the OD on the 2 short lines is so small that the old clamps just spin freely on them even when they're stretched onto the inlet/outlet.

I asked the dealer about it, they basically said if yamaha sent it, then it has to be right. I'm probably just going to order a second mag side fuel line, cut it in half and use it for the other two, was just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Short - 5mmIDx7 OD
Long - 5x9

Hmmmm, that does not sound right. I would get a refund. The oem lines are all black almost like automobile fuel line. At least mine oem ones were. Were the clear ones in a sealed yamaha bag with a sticker? Post some pics if you can.

Guessing some one was having a bad day at the factory,,,,,"If yamaha sent it then it has to be right" This is the typeof customer service that gets me fired up!

I found 90446-07241-00 (replaces 91A20-05018-00) and 91A20-05039-00 (replaces 91A20-05033-00) . Maybe they are no longer made and just throw in some average bulk tube now? Maybe order hose from a 00. The part #'s are different and looks like there is sheathing on the long one.

ya, that stuff is wrong, your dealer should have a roll of 5mm fuel line and cut you a chunk off a bulk roll, its a dark grey color and thick walled, very good stuff. you may need to go to a better dealer....lol or at least one with a parts guy who has actually seen a snowmobile before. :o|

Your dealer should check into it with Yamaha. If they will not, call Yamaha customer service and tell them about it. Have the serial number and the part numbers handy. Good luck though, Yamaha customer service isn't the best.

It could be the part numbers are wrong or the dealer looked at the wrong hose on the parts view. Possibly one of them is the pulse hose instead of a fuel hose?

I stopped into one dealer here (not the normal one I use but is closer and I was driving past anyway) to buy some line to replumb a Vmax-4. Needed the large tank to pump line and the smaller pump to carb line.

The parts manager reached up on the wall and grabbed two big roles of that blue poly crap and wanted to know how much I needed of each. ???? WTF

I told him I can get that crap anywhere and came here to get the GOOD OEM line.

He said they don't stock any of it as there is a different part # for every line on every sled and to inventory that would be cost prohibitive. I told him I know how Yamaha does it but at the other dealer I normally use who is his compitition stocks it. (and I explained to him) Not every line but about 3 different lengths of every kind. The guy stock the three longest lenghts of every style line Yamaha makes and only sells them unless you want to order a specific line.

This blue poly dealer said he can do as he likes but we don't stock it. I left without line and went straight to my normal dealer to buy his "in stock" OEM Yamaha line and got the sled done that day.

I buy the longest ones he stocks every time I need more line. A fuel tank vent line is the same line as used from carbs to pump and is long enough to do 6 to 8 carbs for about $15. Same with the other styles of line like oil line. I have the ability to cut a rubber line and so does my dealer (the good one). He won't pay the extra for precut and doesn't expect me to either. He's been selling Yamaha sleds since 1974 and there is a reason he is still in business. He cares. Many others around here have come and gone.

I'd take those lines back to the dealer and tell him to keep them. Also tell him to do a bit of reserch and start buying the long lengths like my dealer does so he can keep a customer happy or lose more buisness to the online suppliers.

I do what I can to help keep my dealer in buisness because I want him to be here when I need him. He understands that and does what he can to keep me happy while still earning a living. Some of these other dealers are just a joke.

I went back today and talked to the parts department mgr. He checked and re-checked the part #'s and they proved to be right. He did agree that the lines were not up to par and let me return them. They also love to fall back on their giant stock of blue poly garbage line... After looking at a few options we found a motion pro line they had in stock that was much better quality. ID and OD were nearly identical so I went with it. It's clear and doesn't match the nice pink line I got for the mag side carb which I don't like. Kind of anal about everything being perfect... But it should get the job done. Next carb cleaning I'll probably buy a length of the pink line and make it all match again.

Thank you all for your helpful input!

IMO - The original OEM hose is better then all of them other hoses including the motion pro grey stuff that looks similar.
