The title of this post is written just how is was proposed by me and my buddy. It is the plastic collar that sits around the main jet in the carburetor. Also they seem to fit verry loose. Is that how they should fit? Can't seem to get a pic of it from my phone at the moment.

They do fit loosely but are important to keeping fuel pooled at the jet.
Set them on and put your bowl on. Hollowish side facing the bottom of the bowl. Test fit it to the bowl and you'll see what I mean.
Mine had me confused yesterday and seems to running good today.

Yes, they sit fairly loose on there. I always put them flush, never had an issue.

What sled r u working on? Just asking cause my main jet sits up in that brass thing not sticking out like yours does.

I think I may have installed the main jet incorrectly. I think I managed to flip the brass thing the plastic washer thing slides on. My jet is tucked up in the brass thing. Anyone done this too? What effect would u get

^^^ yup first pic correct and i always let mine sit loose in groove. Keeps the fuel around the jet for hardlong pulls. You dont hit the main very often, long WOT river runs! Corner to corner you never even hit it.

Yep, there my sign!!!!

That is exactly how I have it in pic 2 :o| As some of u have been reading I have been chasing my tail thinking I got plugged jets but I think by having it the way I do the plastic washer maybe hitting the float making it not seat. This site totally rocks. How much tine would I spent trying to figure this out! Thanks guys. Kind of wish I wasn't leaving early tomorrow for patriots game. I'd really like to go out there and tear the airbox back out! It's too late tonight I guess. I will have a killer time now tomorrow at least thinking I've licked my problem. Go pats!

Yup did that too first time. Made the mistake of taking apart all three then tried to reassemble them. I know better now one at a time to have something to go on

How did u know u messed up? How did sled act?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Anytime I am tearing into something new out comes the cell phone......couple pics so I dont have to try to remeber what went where......and where/what the hell is this thing?

Update for me. Make sure the mains are installed correctly. I did screw it up and that was my problem. All good now

I would just like to add to this thread that I have a 97 SX 700 that I run without the white things surrounding the main jet. Has ran fine that way for years.
