I have tried searching this but came up with nothing. I want to know what the max rpms are supose to be on a 1999 Vmax 600 triple. I don't think I have the correct spring in one of my clutches and it will cause it to over rev when wide open. I have had no luck finding this.

here's where I got that number, didnt read the whole thread but there may be some info in there for you http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=57681&highlight=600+peak+rpm
Thanks, i will check it out. I reworded my search and had better results on this topic aswell. But I am new to snowmobiling and its a short season aswell so i will probably be full of questions till I get the whole clutch thing figured out.

your first step will be to post up what you've got now
primary weights
primary spring
secondary spring and setting (2 numbers 1 on clutch 1 on helix)
helix
from there the clutch guys can get you in the right direction

The 99 SX tripples had a habbit of over reving with the stock factory clutching...they must have made more power then Yamaha expected. They have a real nice flat HP curve up top so they can perform OK with an over rev but they will pull better @8500RPM.
took it for a spin to see what it was doing and write it down. This is what i got: clutch engages @ 4500...clutch shifts(if this is the right term) @6000-6500 rpm. sled will do 25 mph @ 4000 rpm and 55mph @8000 rpm. Dont know if this sounds right. maxes out at exactly 9000rpm.
primary clutch seems to be blue/?/blue and the secondary looks to be all black and i have no idea on the weights
I need to get it on the lake to do more testing, maybe in a few more days and it will be safe to do so. I really have no smooth areas test.
