I'm in the middle of doing my mechanical seal on my viper and my parts come in Wednesday and I'm leaving on Thursday, my issue is that I won't have the cover o- ring until Friday, could I seal the Water pump cover with a high grade rtv in place of the o-ring just for this trip, or am I tempting fate?? Thank you for the help!

ahh no.........you need the o-ring. Put the old one back on and smear a little bit of yamabond on it to get you by.

Pulled the damn cover off and the o ring split into two leaving me high and dry and having to order the parts late.

put it back into the groove on the cover and use yamabond to hold it in, then let dry overnight. place another drop of yamabond on break let dry and install will be ok if you let it harden up first.
