I finally went for a little ride and quickly noticed that my sx viper 2002 seem to bog at low Rpm. The major tune has been done included cleaned carbs power valves, Actually replaced one cause the cable pulled through. New clutch bushings etc. Its not TORS because at high rpm i have no problem hitting high speeds. So i decide to check the plugs which are new. While the machine was running i pulled off one plug wire and there was immediatley a difference in sound. Good, so then reconnect that and continued to the center cylinder. Pulled it off and no sound change. So im thinking ahh a faulty plug. So i continue and do the same for the final cylinder making a sound difference. I removed the center plug and tested to see if i have spark and i do......Now im lost.Could it be a power valve problem or clutch or just try changing the belt (which will be my next quick solution). Howcome the middle cylinder being unplugged didnt change the sound?
1.) does it have compression in center cylinder?
2.) did you check the condition of the reeds?
3.)is the plug wet and soaked when you pull it out of that middle?

i havnt checked the compression yet.I will do so later today but the plug is dry and has the same look as the ones in the other cyclinders

if the plug is dry and the cylinder isnt firing on low speed but it is on higher speeds( you hit 8500rpm on topend right??), i will say you have a dirty or clogged pilot jet circuit in that center carb then.
Alright good stuff. Ill try cleaning that carb again and hopefully it will do the trick.Ill check the compression aswell. Yes i have no problem hitting high rpm, its just not as snappy at the low end (nearly stopped) but once rolling its better. I just find it funny that pulling off the middle cylinder plug didnt make a difference which i think it should? Ill repost when i finish the work. Thanks for the help!

if it cant get fuel, it cant fire on the idle circuit, so thats why when you remove plug it doesnt matter because the center cylinder isnt making any power, its dead till you get into the needle and main jet circuit of the carb.
remove the pilot jet and you should be able to see light thru it, lots of times you need to use a single strand of wire to clean thenm out. I would also use a some carb cleaner and insert the little plastic strw into the opening where the pilot jet screws into the carb. squirt it in there and it should come out of the little orfice in the front side of the casrb, if it doesnt its plugged up in the carb.
So i checked the compression in all cyclinders everything is within spec. I noticed when i started the machine that using the choke everything was fine and the removal of the center plug wire would change the sound. So back to carb cleaning like you said. Dammit i just did that.... Thanks again and A happy new year to you!
