I was reading the Clutching setups on the main page. My SRX is bone Stock and I just picked it up a month ago. Would this setup work just for general trail riding. 52/42 Helix, stock weights and stock springs. Just looking for a little extra from corner to corner. I'm def a noob when it comes to clutch tuning and this site is a huge help ;)!

Thanks,
Chris

look for a 50/47, 51/47 helix if your leaving everything else stock, the 52/42 will over rev on top because its way to shallow of a finish angle and wont just be a bolt on and go set up.

Will just changing the helix be worth the change or should I get my pen and paper out and get ready to make some runs? I'm just looking to ride and not spend time tuning.

Thanks,
Chris

helix will make the sled more aggressive on the upshift, rest will be pretty much as it is now, noticeable improvement for not much $$

OR:

I can give you a set up and if you install it exactly as I prescribe it and all youll have to do is ride it, you can even use your stock weights. youll need to replace 1 rivet in them, a new primary spring, new helix and green sec. spring and it wakes up the srx alot, great all around set up, set it and forget it kind of riding.

Yea ill try your set up if you don't mind. Let me know what I need.

Thanks
Chris

id be interested to mr viper, also if it consists of that 54/46 dalton im still interested

its pretty much the same recipe as most of the other 8dn 20 set ups but that dalton 54/46 works awesome in it.

8dn-20 weights
4.5 rivets both holes, stock you only need to change out 1 rivet
w/w/w/yamaha spring in front
15.6mm stock rollers for srx

54/46 dalton helix with green yamaha spring at 60 twist, pretty much bang on 85-8600rpm, and it pulls HARD! all depends on how many stufds, how aggressive track, your weight and such but this is very very close.

if you put this set up in, ask for help if you need help to dial it in, no problem, will likely be within a 10 degree sec. adjustment is all thats needed. I have used this on 2-3 sleds and all were about perfect, just a twist or less twist was all needed to get spot on. ( one guy was 280+ lbs, we had to go back to the stock y/w/y with him but it was because of his weight and had 192 studs...heavy)
Very aggressive upshift and hard pulling mid to topend, good all around set up. Its trail set up not a race set up but its strong!

I've got 144 studs up the middle and I weigh around 235lbs. Would you happen to have a dalton helix for sale or know where I can get one?

Don would the 54/46 setup be good for a trail ported 01 SRX? I've got the w-w-w spring on order and a set of 8DN -20's that just need to be weighted and 21/39 gearing.

ya, it will still work if it makes good power I usually just will use 5 grams in each hole and sometimes 5.5 grams, just depends on how good the engine runs, but it will work good.

you guys just want the 54/46 helix from dalton

Almost a year later and I finally got everything
to do this clutch setup. Looking forward to this winter!!
