I have a 96' vmax 600 xt. I've started to jet it down so it would run better and not use so much gas (6mpg). Changed the pilot from 50 to 45. Idles alot better but no change in gas usage. Would like to change needle setting and main jet. Can someone help me as to how far of a jump I can go at first. For example, Should I just change the needle to the next shim setting or get the shims that are half the size so the jump isn't that drastic? The current main is 152.5. Can I drop to say to 148 and be safe?I guess I'm trying to save a little time and not buy a bunch of jets either.

6 MPG heck if you are not fouling plugs i don't think you will gain alot maybe 2 MPG if lucky ,,,better check your clutching if something has all of a sudden dropped your milage to 6 or you have that thing hopped up more than trigger on paote!!! My 97 700 piped and reeds and such gets 10 on trail setting and 6 on race setting( secondary clutch) wish I could easily get it back to the 12-12.5 it was before i messed with it, love the power but really miss the milage
No engine mods except for the thin head gasket I installed the other day. Man, what a nice impovement. Been getting 6 mpg since i've owned it(3yrs). Primary is stock with a wpw spring.Secondary is a HighTech roller. All in great shape.
