A short story... A couple weeks ago I found a sled for a friend of mine who is relatively new to sledding. He purchased the sled for his wife for her birthday, I recommended a viper er and was able to find a 02 on craigslist that was well taken care of for cheap. The night before her bday we pulled it into my shop and spent 6 hours going completely through it, valves, carbs, clutching, the whole 9 yards. About 3 hours in I found myself explaining how the power valves work to my friend who is a doctor and he looked at me completely confused and asked " how do you know how to do all this stuff?" At that point it dawned on me just how much I have learned on this site through the years, I opened a new account this year under a new name but I have been around for quite sometime.

So as a thank you for past and future knowledge I offer the following....

I have two sheets of NOMEX the same stuff they make fire suites out of, also insulators for power transformers and exhaust shields for cars. When I was younger I manufactured molded heat shields made out of this same nomex board wrapped in stainless foil for the dodge viper. This board material is 1/8" thick and can be cut with a utility knife. Years ago I had Aaen pipes on my sx700 that fit really lousy so I made shields for my cowl foam and it worked great. If you use a straight edge when you cut it and spray it with high heat black it really looks nice.

So I stopped at an old friends tonight for dinner who just happen to be a retired sales rep for the company that manufactures it. While we admired his neatly stacked woodpile over beers I spotted the sheets of nomex he was using to cover his wood! Score! So now I have two sheets and I owe him a tarp.

Long story short, I am willing to send out 8"x10" pieces if anybody needs some. If you want a bigger piece (within reason) you pay shipping. Send me a pm. with your address and I will send some out.

Nice riding area up there! I was up there a few years ago and the trails were fantastic.

We are fortunate the trail goes through our field and the riding is good in every direction. Island Pond is fun but stay away on the weekends unless your life insurance policy is up to date.
