I am going to be installing my pioneer clutch kit today. I read a ton of threads saying to wrap the spring at 60 or 70 etc. The kit basicallly only has two springs and the helix and came with instructions but i would like to know what it means to wrap the secondary spring. Sorry, im new at this clutch stuff and just feel clueless.

on the helix should have holes with numbers 3,6,9, on the clutch sheeve should have numbers 1,2,3 or somthing simular whatever numbers u put spring end in add that number to the other end of spring end and u would have wrap. ex. if ur looking for a 70 then put spring in 6 and 1n thats 70 or 6 and 2 thats 80 hope this helps u also will have to twist spring to realine the bolts should have alot of tension to aline the bolts hope this helps

secondary wrap is how tight the spring is set, look at the numbers on the holes the place the end of the pring in, for example hole 1 on the sheave and hole 6 hole the helix would be 70 (1 plus 6 = 7)......hole 2 and hole 6 would be 80 (2 plus 6 = 8.) the higher the wrap the tighter the sring will be, the tighter the wrap the harder and slower it is to shift out but the better your throttle response will be (backshifting)....the lower the wrap the faster the sled will shift out as long as you have enough hp and enough weight in the primary, too high of wrap and the engine will overrev and the belt will slip, to start it would put it somewheres around 60, 70 or 80 and then you will have to fine tune from there, for radar runs you would run alot lower wrap because it yeilds in higher top end, for drag racing you want the best acceleration, for trail riding you want good acceleration but also good backshift

wrap is the amount of preload you twist the spring 60 -70 is the amount in degrees.thats what the holes in the helix and clutch are for.
