SO the shock in my skid broke....the cap actually broke off the shaft of the shock rod....

Are those shocks in SRX's different than other sled s with proaction skid?

I need to get a new one ASAP and wondered if they are all the same

Hey, juust have someone weld the eyelet back onto the rod. It will work perfectly fine!

Order the Bearings and seals that go in the rear shock. They will press right into this center shock and I bet it will never break again. They break from the constant hammering from all the play in those dumb plastic bushings.

you should still install those bearings though. Works so smooth....correction, yamaha should have installed those bearings!

bearings? you mean the plastic inserts that sort of "centre" the bolt in the shock hole? like bushings?

If so, you say they have metal ones? have a part #?

I believe what he is saying is that some of the large rear shocks actually had needle bearings in them instead of bushings....I believe my 98 SRX had them and possibly my Viper also.

And yes, there are differences between proaction skids...SRX's and SX's had short travel skids while others had long travel skid(so, longer shocks, etc) like the SXRs, Vmaxs,Vipers,etc....

its all mentioned in betheviper's write up on suspension setup..I used the roller bearings on the front skid shocks in both my sleds instead of the plastic bushings.

ended up getting the entire skid for 140 bucks including both shocks. When that shaft let go, it cracked my right side rail when the bolt sheared off.

His rails were polished too so saves me doing that.

Using the best of both skids to make sure its good to go, and I just hit it with 2nd coat of paint. Should be all back in tomorrow i hope
