Are stators different form 600 - 700 in the 97-99 years??Mine is tits up in my 97 sx. One of my local used places i know has probably 600 stators lying around. Another Guy I know has one out of a viper and out of a 2000-2001 srx . Ive read some on here that these are higher wattage but smaller in diameter so ur pickup coil needs to be relocated. Is this correct?? if i went the srx, viper stator why would i have to replace ign coils and wiring like i have read on here. Love this site but sometimes the information isnt cut and dry and leaves you with more ??? not critizing just sayin. Has anyone ever tried rewinding their stators or is that just stupid?? Any help thanks in advance

Yes 00 and up are higher wattage as far as srx/viper and I beleive 01 was first year for dual bulb in sx chassis. I would assume your coils are for lower wattage.....over power......Burn up...I would guess.Seems with the power valve/non power valve wouldnt interchange as wiring harness would probably be way different. As far as I know the 600/700 from 97/99 would be the same. You can check parts fische for part numbers to verify.

yeah did that and they are different part numbers but sometimes the part no.being different doesnt mean there different.
stator fitment is this
5 and 600 twin
6 and 700 tripple red head single bulb
6 and 700 tripple red head, dual bulb
6 and 700 blue head tripple single bulb
700 blue and black head dual bulb
there are some part number changes in between but these above will fit what is listed and will not in any way work with each other.

well the new stator did the trick, purrs like a kitten and revs up like its supposed to. Took for a rip in the field and seems to run better than ever, Makes me think that old stator was on its way out. Sure hope this is last issue with this thing for awhile. Just wanna ride but now were having a thaw for few days. think the old stator was a rewound one, at least thats what justin at full power performance thought so guess that answers my question about doing that. Anyone wants to do the read look at thread "issues again".

lights didnt seem as bright as they should and right before it puked it wasnt running quite right like it was really really running rich. Thinking that we werent getting spark we should have been. Let me ask this. Found one ignition coil loose could that have arced and finished off stator???

that's good to know. my sled was running a little rich and fouling plugs once in awhile. i thought it might have been a weak ignition. but i turned down the fuel screw by half and its good. nice brown color now on the plugs. i'll see what happens in the next 3 more months of snowmobiling
