Baffle loose inside pipe, how to get it out ? XTC Yamaha

I've got a '97 Vmax, just picked it up three days ago. I was riding and noticed a dramatic decrease in power, only to let off the throttle and have it come right back to full power - it did than more than a few times.

It just did it again 30 min ago but I held the throttle, then the pipe popped off of the 2 into 1 collector. I pulled the pipe off and can hear something rattling around in there, I'm guessing some sort of baffle that's come loose.

I'm assuming I'm going to have to get a section of the pipe cut out, remove the piece floating around in there and then have it welded back up. Does anyone have any other ideas or solutions ?

look for a new pipe. it shouldnt cost to much.

I'm going to see if I can fix this pipe up, if I can't then I'll look for a different one.

So, after talking to my local welding guru I started working on it. Here's what I found :

So I got it all welded up, painted and re-installed on the sled. Just finished taking it for a ride and no more intermittent dramatic bog or loss of performance. All said and done it cost me $20 to have it welded up !! Sweet !

Before the paint :
