Winter storm watch for
City of Winnipeg issued
Snow and blowing snow developing Friday.
The potential for severe winter weather exists over these regions.
The combination of a cold front invading from the north and a Colorado low passing through Minnesota will bring a wintery mix of heavy snow, freezing precipitation, strong northeast winds and low visibilities in blowing snow to much of Southern Manitoba Friday and into Saturday.
The accumulating snow will push into Western Manitoba with the cold front tonight and then spread through the Red River Valley by Friday morning. The snow and the winds will intensify during the day Friday as the Colorado low approaches Minnesota. Near blizzard conditions are expected throughout the Red River Valley Friday. The heavy snow and local blowing snow will spread through Southeastern Manitoba early Friday.
The snow and blowing snow will persist thought Friday night and then ease from the west on Saturday as the Colorado moves through Ontario. Generally a total 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected with this system but locally higher amounts are also possible. While the regions listed in this watch will be most impacted by these weather systems, snow and blowing will affect most of Southern Manitoba Friday and Friday night.
Much colder temperatures will follow in the wake of these weather systems for the weekend.
A winter storm watch is an alert of the potential development of severe winter weather. Persons in or near these areas should be prepared for developing adverse weather conditions and should listen for updated watches and possible warnings.t week.Mother Nature finally has come to her senses...
