sled was running great,second ride of the season ,trails were real bumpy,i go tbeat up bad,all of a sudden lights and dash would dim a little.hit the trottle right back to normal.put on 200miles no other issues,the end of the ride at home ,everything dimmed out and wouldent come back up to normal,checked for rub through dident find any yet,checked the relays,one had water in it so i replaced it with new oem-dident help, when i unplugged it the dash and taillight work but no headlights,when i plug it in ,intermittent dash or no dash and dim headlights.so the following morning i decided to ride to the store and gas it up ,figured i dident need the headlights during the day.started ,ran good,ripped it up and down the feild,rode it to the store, no issues,fired it up to move it from the gas pumps ran fine parked it to have a smoke and some water before takeing off,ran like junk spit and sputter backfire and would idle but not rev.nephew had followed me on my srx-he was running back to get his mom and truck to bring the viper home.in the meantime ,about the 3rd time of starting took right off and ran normal,almost made it all the way home then puked out on me at the end of my road doeing the same thing ,idles but wont revv,when 2 seconds before it revv and i was riding at 75 +mph rub through or stator just havent found it,trying to eliminate things before i invest in a stator....thanks gents

Interesting! But yet I have no clue!
Harness is probably rubbed through and shorting where it is routed under the engine. It's rather common unfortunately.

harness rubbed thru under engine, you have to pull it out from under engine, repair and tape each wire seprately and place in convolute tubing.
do a search its been posted about 10 kazillion times on the procedure, common problem.

thanks guys thats what i was thinking also,ill check it out and let ya all know.if this is the problem should i keep useing the factory hold downs or route it different?~smoke

found broken wire right off the stator,fixed it for a little while wound up replaceing the stator with new 0 issues sience!!!
