no tach or tail light

I don't spend much time on the 2 stroke side, I have an 09 nytro and an 08 vector, but I also have my fathers 2000 700 triple venture. Anyway on to my issue, I haven't used this sled for the last 2 winters, got it ready tonight for a ride tomorrow but I have no tail/brake light or tach. There was no battery in the sled so I boosted it off my motorcycle battery to get it going. Does this sled need a battery for all of the electrical to work? I have hi/low beam, hand warmers work, dash has lights. I looked but could not find any fuses, does this sled have any fuses?

Took the battery out of the quad and the tach worked, still no tail/brake light though. I checked the bulb it looked OK, switched it out for another I had laying on the shelf but no difference. I'll have to dig into it further I guess.
 
take off the seat, the connector for the taillight should be under the seat up near the gas tank, Ive had mine pop off before. To take off the seat its just two nuts inside your seat storage area, also try cleaning out the bulb socket they will get corroded after a while
