I have an 91 Phazer II. I have cleaned carbs, changed plugs & trimmed wires, compression in both cylinders is 130. THe sled will start up choked and get to operating temp. WIth the choke off it will idle for a while. With no choke it will not move, RPM's will go to 4000+ and the sled will not move. I put the choke at the middle position and the sled will move from a standstill at the normal RPM, once moving I take the choke off and it runs like a bat out of hell. WHen i come to a stop, I have to put it back into mid-choke or it will stall.
I have read in some discussions that it may be the crank seal, but before I tear into that project, I figured that I would try and see if I can get some input from others that may have had this problem. Another thought is that it may be the fuel pump?
I appreciate any help that you can give me.

If you are 100% sure the carbs are clean, I would suspect and air leak. Start it up and spray some starting fluid around the carb boots, joint where the boost bottle attaches, crankseal behind the clutch and around where the crank case halves are sealed. If theres a leak you will notice a difference in RPM. I have seen a few Phazers where the crank case bolts worked there way loose causing a leak. Hope this helps. Good luck with it.ffruff22 said:I have an 91 Phazer II. I have cleaned carbs, changed plugs & trimmed wires, compression in both cylinders is 130.
