Got the srx all ready to ride this year. went through the rear suspension, put a new rip saw track on, fixed a rub through and overall cleaned and polished everything. had a trip planned for january 19 but thursday i broke my heel when an extension ladder slid out from under me getting on the roof so i am in a lot of pain and can not put pressure on it for 6 weeks bummer :o| :o| :o|

sorry to hear that.My cousin fell off a roof once trying to clean snow.Slid all the way down and hit the frozen ground and smashed his heel good. The pain was out of this world. He was off work for 9 months..

I have broken many bones and ribs before but never had this much insane pain. I am on 2 percoset every 6 hrs just to kill the pain. I have to wait till weds until they can put a cast on it because of the swelling.

you are probably gonna have to stay off that foot for a long time.My cousin was in so much pain,it was insane..one of the worse injuries one can have.Be prepared to be laid up for a good while..

not what i need right now! was reding about it online and it seems to be a long recovery time. I am self employed with a wife, three young boys and christian tuition i can not afford to be out of work. On the positive side it is fractured and does not need surgery but man this sucks. Its in the lords hand now.

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. Thankfully it wasn't worse. Hopefully a speedy recovery to you.

don't you have any coverage from your employer??? My cousin was covered thru his employer all that time. Can you not apply for unemployment insurance payments while off work...when I broke my wrist years back when I lost control of my Tri-Moto and it ended up that the handle bar landed on my wrist and crushed it.Had to go for surgery and have steel plates now.I was able to collect unemployment even when it wasn't a work related incident.

nope no employer coverage because i am self employed. My medical insurance will pay for most of the medical its just the time off work that sucks (no checks coming in without work) But were going to be positive and make it through this trial. About 9 years ago i flipped a pettibone and had broken ribs vertabre and popped my wrist out of socket. went for 6 weeks without pay then and made it. Thankfully my wife works as an lpn so she was working ot but now that we have 3 boys the house is a busy place and she would rather be home than working. :o|

I am sure its differant from canda to the states but unemployment/underemployment down here stress's the "available for work" and "able to work" I know a co-worker had corrective foot surgery last winter. Even though he was laid off he wasnt able to work and they made him pay back benefits.

my daughter who was going back to school for Nursing, and worked part time as a waitress.. was snowboarding with friends and nailed a tree with her knee.Broke a bone and has pins in her leg now and a cast for the next 3 months.Of course she dropped out of school and unemployment will pay her 40% of her wages which is not much, but better then nothing. She lives with her mom(my ex) and she won't have any Bills to pay at least.

Got some bad news from the doctor on tues. I will need surgery on my heel because i actually shattered it in 3 spots, so i will never be able to walk on a roof again, and i will be off from work for 3 months just like blue said. I was not very happy but the docs know more than me and i just need to relax and stay off my foot so that it heals properly and i don't have long term effects. :sled1:

because of the way my heel was shattered they need to put in plates and screws that will break loose with to much side pressure? i guess i don't really know just what the surgon told me.

its crazy I know.My daughter broke a bone on the side of her knee while snowboarding and nailed a tree. She has some screws and plate also. She is laid up for 3 months.Doctor told her she can't snowboard anymore..WEIRD..even after everything is healed.Maybe it will be a weak spot as well as yours.I have 2 SS plates in my left wrist from a mishap with a 3 wheeler accident. My wrist feels fine after like mega years gone by.Just the way it is I guess. Some of us will have to change the way we do some things now.

surgery tommorow. They are going to put a bone back in place with screws and plates then its a lot of sitting around and wating for it to (heel) lol. Another good thing is i have quit smoking because i can't get out of the house. We are getting a lot of lake effect snow right now to i thought i would be bummed because i can't ride but i really am excited for everyone to be able to ride around here. :sled2:

Nasty business poppin a heel. Seen a couple buddies over the years smash them good. I myself got lucky. I jumped down from some scaffold and fractured mine. I was told I may end up with "spurs" but have had no ill effects since.
I'm also self employed and I know the feeling of watching your savings disappear while your down. I was laid up for 18 months at one point. That was crushing. Had to finance a furnace mid winter during it. Thankfully that was the only emergency during that time.
Rest up and heel up.
