I've got a guy who is considering selling me his SRX. It's a 2001 700 in MINT condition with really low miles.
Basically I'm trying to get an idea of what it's worth since I know these usually sell for pretty decent money.
It has a Bender cold air kit on it is all.

around here that would go for 2000-2500
mine was in mint ,stole it for $1000 he wanted $1200 but i had a 6 hr one way trip to get it, so he knocked off the $200 for my gas.otherwise ive seen em usually $1800-$2500-money talks, bullshit walks-flash him $1500 i bet he takes it jmo~smoke
it is 12 years old ,look at track condition ,shocks need a rebuild and so on things you dont notice cost ya later, new track, rebuilt shocks, have the w frame welded if its cracked, looking at another $1000 easy, even something simple as new carbides is another $100-all factors to consider.i recovered my own seat for $100 because of a tear on the seam, mine are mint.
my babies :P
viper i have about $3200 into the restoration-witch i thought was a mint sled
srx$1200 total have had 0 issues

I bought my 01 in the off season. Brand new camoplast track with brand new OEM top end, sled in pretty fair shape with 3500 +/- miles on it for $1100. Guy gave me all the receipts. The new track was $550 alone. Theres a few on the local craigslist $1700 (private seller) to $2200 (dealer). Go to KBB.com, punch in your zip code and click on snowmobiles. They offer trade in value and retail value for sled in your area. Should be somewhere in that ballpark,

The best part....was like a 4 minute drive to go get it! Was on the local craigslist and actually had a few members send me "check craigslist" messages! I have ben real lucky in that aspect, Didnt have to drive more than like 20 minutes(each way) to get any of the 5 sleds.
bought one at 1hr round trip(the viper)bought the next 3hr round trip(my formula3 600 and lastly 12 hr round trip for my srx-all but the doo worth it.gonna sell it and find another small yammi~smoke
Thanks for all the replies guys, definitely things I'll keep in mind. This one is very local to me, actually a relative. I don't think it even has 1500 miles on it.
you should get family price then

01 shouldnt have DCS, 02 was only year SRX came with DCS.
Had a chance to look at the sled today. It is actually a 2000 with 1118 miles. Has a sno stuff windshield, Bender cold air kit, Bender clutch kit (Bender helix), and about an 1"-1 1/4" track. Has the wider skis that were found on a stock mtn max. No ohlins shocks. Also would be getting the original track which is studded and was taken off after purchase and the stock windshield. The guy is the original owner of the sled.
The 2001's were the best to have correct? If so what is the difference between the 2000s and the 2001s? Is it just the ohlins shocks?

Ohlins was an option on any year. 01 has silver tunnel/trailing arms/radious rods. 00 has the forementioned in blue. Both should have dual bulb headlight with the hotter stator/3d ignition sytem. Only real differance is in carb settings (few more horse in 01) 01 was a few pounds lighter.
Thanks for the quick reply. I could easily change the carb settings on it.

Even though I have yet to own one I would say the 02 would be the best to have. Mainly due to the DCS only offered in the 02 SRX. Basically a "hey....Knock it off or else I am going to burn down on you" system. Personally of the 4 SRX's I have the 99 I have nick named "stumprash" is my most favorite to ride. Could have something to do with its not the prettiest or could be the $855 I have out of pocket into it. With the crappy mariginal snow I like flogging the wee out of the 99 and dont have a care in the world about scrubbing hard on something that should have at least a foot of snow covering it instead of the 2-3 inches we actually do have.

I re-read your other post. I think the bender cold air kit may require differant jetting than stock. If you do get sled and want to re-jet to 01 specs make sure your still good with the cold air kit.

Yea I'm aware of what the DCS is, we have it on our 05 Viper Mtns. While it is nice, I'm not really too concerned about it on a SRX. And that would be correct about different jetting than stock, you'd have to jet it richer due to more airflow. He has it on the sled but has it all taped over since he never did rejet it, so effectively its pointless being on there. I'd maybe end up taking that off the sled completely idk. $855 would be nice to pic a decent one up for, definitely a good buy on your part.
