Hello, I'm new around these parts and never knew this site existed.. Awesome, knowledge is power. Back in the FixnRid's years I had Rupps and had a clue, but now I'm a yamaha guy and I own a 1997 SX 700 and love the gas mileage and the first or second pull starts and being the "tow truck" bringing all the others back home after breakin.. Totally enjoy my sled and would like another, however I'd like to improve and upgrade my machine to enjoy it even more. I heard I can extend the travel with shocks and transfer bars? reed notch? head gasket split? front travel with longer shocks? reed spacers will help induction? run a 1 inch lug and 1.1185 studs? (as long as i keep up with it) extra washer behind secondary clutch to help with hook up? I have all kinds of questions and would really like to get informed..

Alot of mods to comment about. I used them all on my 97 700. I would use the "search" tab above and enjoy the reads.
Along with the mods you stated above I also did these mods which was a Viper fixed sheave on the primary and a dual angle helix. Seemed to really wake up the sled. Sorry, don't remember the angles.

Do some searches on what you want to do to it and endless info will be at your hands. As far as suspension goes there are lots of options to. All in what you want to spend. Cheapest way is to put viper shocks on front and in rear suspension. Pretty much bolt on install and improves the ride. Alot of guys are putting skidoo or poo or yamaha 4 stroke rear skids in. Thats what I did makes a world of difference. So ask away or search and you will get info you want.
