I noticed after running about 250 trail km's on new plugs(BR9EYA) and a freshly cleaned carbs that it's running a bit rich. To adjust for this I found from some searching that there are a few options. The service manual says to go down a size in the main jet. I've read where I can tighten up the air/fuel screw, the needle under the little "tophat" can be adjusted a position or two or I could adjust the oil pump cable. Which one would best suit me? It seems to run fine, maybe a little stumble in between idle and mid throttle, seems like there is a small bog, not much though. All 3 plugs are black and damp looking. This is not a big concern but I'd like to tweek with it a little. It's a 2002 Vmax 600 Triple
Thanks

Are you basing this on just pulling the plugs out at random? Theres a few how to write ups about jetting. I preefer the "hammer style" If your reading the plugs after a normal stop than all your checking is at idle. Find a feild or back road you can run 1/2 throttle for aways and hit kill switch. Pull and read plugs. Run sled wide open for aways and hit kill switch. re-read plugs. Entirely possible your rich @ idle and fine @ 1/2 and full throttle or even could be lean.....testing...testing and some more testing! Need a full spectrum test to know which area to adjust.

I'll search for the write up and try it out. Would it be more accurate using new plugs at the beginning of this test or can I use the existing ones?

Use the plugs you have. Would take a while to break in your new plugs. As long as they are not fouled they are fine.

X2...older plugs are actually much easier to read than new ones.
