Just bought it this past weekend$900, couple of issues after riding today, speedometer not working, and tailight either. I removed bulb and it looks fine. Removed speedo cable from drive and it spins freely, not sure if you should be able to pull the shaft out(inside the cable) but i could if i tried. Sounds like changing the other end of things is a pain, bearings, keys, drilling tapping etc,etc

well, does the tail light socket have power??/ youd need to use a multi meter and see if it has any voltage to it....

remove secondary clutch, then remove the 3 bolts holding the speedo drive on the tunnel, see if the drive key is broken........

Drive shaft bearings going bad usually indicated by speedo no werky! At least check it out. If bearings are bad and you keep running it then you run the risk of being stranded and an even bigger pain fixing.

How hard to remove secondary? This is my first sled and i know how to turn a wrench.

Not that hard.....Some might say you dont even need to monkey with the secondary. I say check or change all the bearings while its apart. I would suspect driveshaft bearing in chaincase has enough slop in it to let driveshaft pivot far enough to break key way between driveshaft and speedo housing on left hand side of sled.

Well, tailight was unplugged and works fine, tackled the speedometer and the key was twisted in half, speedo drive was locked up. I was able to remove both side with my fingers. Was able to loosen up drive and spins freely now, yamaha dealer has 3 in stock. Ill post pics of sled later, runs like a champ just wish it had ohlins and m10 . It does have orange graphics instead of white looks good
