I plan to order a new sled for next season and it will be either a Vector or a Rage. I'd appreciate some feed back from anyone that has ride time on both. I live in the Wisconsin Northwoods so 99% of the time I am trail riding here and in the U.P. How does the longer Rage handle on "twisty turny" trails? Does anyone have accurate weights on each sled? I'm not a ditch banger but I do like to push a trail. Any scoop on changes for the '06 models?

Check your hyfax ...
you might want to post this on the rx/rs board ... if you haven't already. There is a lot of 4 stroke guys over there and sometimes they don't check this side of the site too much.

I would go for the Rage personally. 136 is nice for trail and off-trail riding.
Go to www.yamahademo.com and see if you can make it to a demo ride and see which one your most comfortable on or like better.

I just rode my wife's Vector and it's beautiful...rides like butter and handles real nice...pretty flat. It hooks up real nice, stayed with my Triple piped viper til 60!!! I was real surprised, my Viper isn't hooking up real strong out of the hole right now though. I think either sled you decide to get is gonna make you happy. I like a 136" track...if the vector hooks up well and rides like butter...imagine how the rage will do.."that's my story and I'll try to remember it"...LOL

as it sits right now I like the vetor simply for the new rear suspension. it handles as nice as my viper on the trails in stock setup. imagine what a set of skis would do and the new skid is FAR easier to set up and adjust, although so far havent needed to do anything to it. it is dad sled, I put on a littl over 100 miles to compare to my 03 viper

I heard from a Yamaha rep that the Rage will have the new torsion spring
suspention for 06. Less weight and better ride.

Not sure if Id want the 136" track.
I ride in Minocqua as well, and on a lot of the trails we have up here its hard enough to make it around some of the corners with a 121", so Im not sure if Id go for the 136".
The Rage will probably ride a little bit smoother, because the longer skid will be able to bridge some of the bumps.
Myself, I like to be able to throw the sled around in the corners, and Im not certain that you could do that as easily with a 136".
Im very excited to have the chance ride a Vector at Yamaha's demo rides that they will be having up here at Cruiser Fest (Feb. 12th). It will be interesting to see how a Vector compares to my '01 600 XC. After that weekend I will know if my next sled will be a Viper/Venom or an RS Vector.

You're right on Hebi, the Rage is a smoother ride, even with the much maligned old Pro-Action and the Vector does the corners better.
If I spent most of my time on the "twisty turny" trails I'd get the Vector. I'm currently on a long distance kick so I just love my Rage. Did the Grand Marais 500 miler (530 miles in 19 hrs.) a couple weeks back and the machine was wonderful.
That being said at this point, I'd also wait to see what's new for 2006.

i have 750 miles on my vector so far... gas mileage gets better an better im gettin between 18 an 23 more in the 20 -23 range...ride is awesome....but the stock carbides suck....upgrade to 6 inch and yure golden. ive heard the rage rides a little better on the ruff stuff. but i really like this sled. sweet
