EX 570/PHAZER hydrolic brakes coversion completed
just spent the evening working on putting hydro brakes on my one of my Racing phazers for next weekend ............i will post picks when i have some more time and have them fully tested what is even better is no extra brackets and uses a std kelsey hayes caliper from the ealier polaris sleds ........i still have one more comcern and that is the brake pad pins ............i want them tight i will make a run in the morning to the hardwhare store and see if i can find what i need ........is not there will have to be a small machined plate to keep things tight it uses the stock case side pad and the polaris pad on the caliper side .........pics to come soon

Yes yes!!! I have the same set up on two of my exciters. Definately a worthy up grade. Becareful because you wont have to use two hands on the brake lever anymore!!Yamaha Nutz said:just spent the evening working on putting hydro brakes on my one of my Racing phazers for next weekend ............i will post picks when i have some more time and have them fully tested what is even better is no extra brackets and uses a std kelsey hayes caliper from the ealier polaris sleds ........i still have one more comcern and that is the brake pad pins ............i want them tight i will make a run in the morning to the hardwhare store and see if i can find what i need ........is not there will have to be a small machined plate to keep things tight it uses the stock case side pad and the polaris pad on the caliper side .........pics to come soon
On mine there is a 1/4'' thick aluminum plate between the the case and the caliper. Then instead of pins, I used hardend bolts, with a nut on each side tight to the aluminum plate to prevent uneven torque or binding. Loctite!!!

I was just down in your area picking up parts from a guy. His name is gary and he lives off of Lake Beula. Guy has a ton of used Phazer and Exciter parts. Nice guy too.Yamaha Nutz said:I am from Mukwonago about a 40min drive to the old RPC ........will post the pics later here just finishing the support plate for the pins tested a little last night and what a difference ..............and yes yes i know INDY LIKES PICS lol
When I was a senior in high school (94/95) I was a parts guy for Yamaha Outlet Center and Rpc was next door. I wish I would have paid more attention back then. I was riding a 74 eltigre and an 81 kawi intruder and wasnt really interested in the new stuff at the time. Except the Vmax 6 that the performace center built then. That thing was stupid.lol

OK PICS ARE UP ...........ENDED UP MAKING A BRACKET EVERYTHING WORKS SMOOTHLY JUST WANT TO REFINE THE BRACKET A BIT I USED 1/4'' ALUMINUM PLATE AND CUT IT OUT WITH MY PLASMA CUTTER HAD TO DRILL AND TAP ONE HOLE IN THE CALIPER WHICH THAT WAS THE PART I WAS UNSURE OF AS I SIS NOT KNOW IF IT WOULD GO INTO THE HYDRO CHAMPER BUT THERE IS PLENTY OF MEAT ON THESE CALIPERS

I would but must do the last testing with the race sleds tomorrow races start a 10am ..........with the drags ovals will start around 3pm ish plus i have a tone of things i need to finish for the races like the starting lights and lazer boxes
Beautiful!! I was always too cheap to buy an aftermarket setup, but this is totally doable. Thank You so much.
Wish we still had ovals here! Might go to the Soo w/friends though.

Off Topic....
Since you both seems to know your area good and both are in the Yamaha sled family,
Can you please help me find a RPC single stealth pipe for my wife's Exciter-II sled ??

I have the same setup on my Phazer.
You can use the Polaris pads on both sides. I don't know what year your Phazer is but the newer ones have a slightly larger disc that would be a better fit with the pads than the early disc. That may have started with the Phazer II.
The brake performance wasn't too good with the standard old Polaris master cylinder, so I switched to a newer Polaris one with a smaller cylinder.
Sit down before you ask the price of new pads .

brakes on the sled before where very good i had full metal pads and i could lock up the track with very little effort
all of the phazer and phazer II's have the same size disk .........yes you can use both polaris pads but but i had fresh metal ones in it so i left the inside pad
yes polaris pads come with a little bit of a price tag but all pads are over priced
this kit will also work on SS440 and SRV
