I will be picking up my SRX700 in a weeks time. Fresh top end rebuild what would be the proper break in procedure?

Opinions will vary.
Ive done countless top ends over the years on all types of 2 strokes and was never to concerned about break-in. Just be sure you lubed the cylinders well during re-assembly. If not, squirt some premix in the cylinders for first start up.
Unlike a 4 stroke, there's really nothing to break in, being as the oil is premixed before detonation and the cylinder is lubed.
I always just let it warm up well while listening. Idle it up a few times on a stand then hit the trail. This assuming everything else is performing as it should.
Take it easy as it will continue to warm up under load.
Stop after it's fully warmed up, listen for anything unusual. All clear? Get on, pull the trigger and smile.

run a few tanks through her before wot runs, trail riding its a good idea, intermittent speeds keep hot spots down on the rings, after its warn and you light it up. feather it down dont just let off, small bursts.after 2- 300 miles should be good to go,alot of people add a little premix to the gas,and run it rich until they feel its broke in,thing is the wot runs, dont do them for a while or youll be doeing the top end over again, possibly more jmo~smoke

I've always just ran a tank of fuel through it before you give it a good thrash down.
But I still break every engine I've put together in the way it's gonna be treated most of its life, no mater whether its 2or 4 stroke. Just no extended wot pulls. Just my. 02

Be nice, vary the speeds to seat the rings. No full throttle on the first tank. That said, I go easy for the first tank, then beat the chit out of it. You got some kind of warranty right? I'm w/Redhead, I've blown up everything I've ever owned eventually. Gives you that opportunity to try new combinations!

New rings need a chance to seat on cylinders, and heat cycling. Two most important things.

Someone posted a link here last winter sometime that gave a great explanation and reasoning as to why to break them in hard.

you basically want to gradually ride it harder, dont go to crazy for the first couple tanks but dont baby it either. Your compression # will come up for the first 1000 or so miles. DONT add extra oil as this LEANS your sled out on fuel. you dont need extra oil you want the parts to break in
