hey guys, so a weekend ago we got an exciter and there has been a mouse in the airbox. Took the airbox out and cleaned it out but some of the junk and grime was even in the carbs and the carburetor piston is stuck in the carb itself (round slides). carburetor piston wont move at all, tried to pry it, spray with carb cleaner, and this weekend i was thinking of putting it in a pot of boiling water, would this help? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ive ran across this a couple of times. If you have tried penetrating lube and havent had success yet, you may have to find another carb. Especially if it looks like the chrome is chipped away and the slide is corroded. Sometimes you can break them loose but yours sounds pretty stuck.
Bad things can happen when mice make a home in the air box and use the carburators for toilets. I would also take a look in the intake ports and see how much crap (literally) made it into the motor, if any. Post some pics of your carbs and maybe I or someone else can give you some insight.

Boil it for an hour or two. Can't hurt... Do you own a heat gun? Maybe that'd work. At worst you have to look for a carb anyways.
Next year maybe try mothballs.
Good Luck, John

I was kind of thinking the exact same thing. Hopefully the corrosion/crap hasnt caused the metal on the piston and bore to expand. Then I think its a lost cause. If you have no success, those carbs are plentiful, at least in my area. I think I know every parts guy and exciter owner in a 50 mi radius. lol you could probably find a set of carbs for 25-50 bux.Lucky7 said:Boil it for an hour or two. Can't hurt... If you cant break them loose, shoot me a pm or check the classifieds on here. I know a few guys that have a ton of parts.
P.S. Be careful with the heat. You dont want to melt the the plastic over flow nipples.

after this weekend, i tried the heat gun but it didnt work, maybe because i didnt heat it enough but i didnt want to melt anything. I then boiled them and they popped right out. Cleaned them up and it runs good now. Thankx
Good news!! Glad it worked.
