So, i bought my first yamaha ever... I picked up a 91 exiter II & am wondering if anyone makes a repair/replace kit for the front suspenion bushings & pivots?
Also what is the best way to get at replacing the fuel lines under the airbox?
thanks

Congrads on your purchase. Im not sure where I have seen bushing kits for the front scissors. It was either Bell Indutries or Fowler Distributing. I Believe they are around $50, which is way less expensive that yamaha oem.
If your trying to get the slop out of your scissor joints, try a shim kit before you buy a bushing kit. I have seen two different brands of kits and have used both. The sno-stuff kit is a bit nicer, but is $15 more than the other. 75% of the time the bushings just need a little clean up then you can lube them up and reuse them.
What I do when I re-assemble is grease on the outside of the collar and inside of the knuckles, then never sieze on the bolts and the inside of the collars. Good luck with your project and have patience because those bolts are pretty stubborn sometimes. Becarefull with heat on the lower bolts because too much heat will damage the shock.

Remove the carbs if your only replacing the pump to carb lines. If your doing tank to pump, you will need to remove the air box, take the two phillips screws out of the front of the seat, and loosen up the dash. Its kind of a tight fit but with a little wiggling its doable....again, be pateint.

-T.S.S. Maintenance
On every used T.S.S. sled I've bought the Knuckles and steel bushing are completely locked up and pivoting on the bolts ! I've bought sleds that the locked up joints won't even allow the springs to return let, alone the struts to work when hitting a bump. The T.S.S sleds have always gotten a bad rap for slop developing when the ungreased steel bushing's freeze up they grind away on the nylon washers ! I have sleds that are 15+ years old that have never had a bushing kit and are almost as tight as new. Just take the knuckles and the ski mounts apart every other year and grease !

AMEN 540!!! I get a kick out of some of the sleds I have come across that have been neglected. Seems like a lot of guys will buy a nice sled, store it outside uncovered then wonder why it broke/ wont start etc..Vmax540 said:http://www.vintagevmax.com/vvforum3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1529

Sleds are exposed to some of the harshest evironments and need special care. One of the worst things is trailering a sled in winter with no cover. Salt absolutely destroys them. As for the tss arms I always anticipate a big job no matter how clean the sled is. GREASE, an NEVER SIEZE is your sleds best friend!

Lots of stuff will interchange, but there is alot of things that will only work if you swap out several parts. For example, if you wanted to use the air box from the 89 you would have to use the gas tank and mount from the 89 also. About the only thing that wouldnt be a direct swap is the rear skid. Totally different. There are actually more differences than you would think in the drive train etc. I guess depending on what parts your looking for you may want to find a 91 or newer exciter for a donor.
