Hi Guys

I would like to change the jets in my 2001 SRX. Could someone please tell me the next size up of jet I need as well as where I can purchase the jets?

I can confirm the jets in my sled are all stock.

I am having issues with the motor blowing up... yet I can never find the reason why. Crank seals are good, rubber boots are all solid, carbs are all clean! I noticed the someone cut holes in the airbox and I don't know if this is causing the issue or not. This sled is no longer a primary sled and I just want it to run for guests at the cottage without issue and under no circumstance do I want to rebuild it again!.

Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris, how about just buying the stock airbox for it and then you dont need to go thru rejetting the sled? A drilled/modded airbox will for sure lean out a sled and cause problems. You may need to raise the needles and differnt mains as well and there is a process to tune the carbs in involving plug readings and reading the tops of the pistons in the differnt carb circuits. At least with a stock airbox and stock jetting you should have no more problems. The airboxs are all the same on the 2000-02 srx and theres guys parting them out on here all the time.

Just a suggestion, sometimes going back to stock is easier then trying to fix someone elses prior doings and spending way more time and money to get back to reliable!

"Right turn Clyde!" (Couldn't resist). Anyway, what do your plugs look like ? and have you checked your piston wash to see what they look like? Did you lose all cylinders? Maybe the previous owner thought, more air means more power.hmmmmm. Need more fuel also to make that work. Take some pics and post em' on here and we'll be able to help a little more.
Looks like Mr. Viper beat me to it. He know his stuff....

Engine is back in and running. Every bolt was properly tourqued. Sealent was used around the rubber boots, I closed all the air holes in the air box. Carbs were completely cleaned and rebuilt, Powervalves all cleaned and adjusted, the crank seals looked new ( as they should because they are basically new ) there was no sign of leakage around the block so the engine was never split. I added new gas ( highest octane we can get in canada from a pump ).... Now I am just hoping this sucker gets some kms on it without issue.

The question here now is do I run 50:1 for the first tank of fuel?
Most of my buddies seem to be split as to whether I should or should not.

Thanks for all your help
Chris
