I bought myself a smart phone in July, upgraded from a Nokia flip phone, and have slowly but surely gotten accustomed to it.It's capable of way more than I'll ever use it for trust me but it's nice to be able to surf and check email and stuff at work when I get a spare minute or 3.Anyway I got called into work Sunday morning and had my phone with me,of course, when it fell beside me in the piece of equipment I was running and got wedged in between the seat and parking brake handle.Well not knowing enough to stop and fish it out correctly I figured I'd just pull it out.I mean it was right there,so I reach down and try pulling it up,that was a no go.I flip it sideways and try again and it starts to come up so I grab it and pull when all of a sudden I hear CRACK.Oh no not good.I managed to crack the glass face of my phone bad enough that it's not useable.I'm looking around for a place that can fix it for me but in the mean time I'm back to the old flip phone. You don't realize how dependent you get on something like a phone until it's not there.

Im guessing you're S.O.L unless you had boght the insurance.
yep, and you pay that price in tiny print to replace it not the 59.99 or whatever you payed origionally. I work in construction and learned that lesson 10 years ago. didnt buy insurance and my 29.99 phone cost 269.99 to replace when I broke it on the job. insurance for me after that.

I bought it from a dealer that has a booth setup at the local Costco and as far as I know other than the warranty there isn't anything for insurance on it unless Costco will come through with some.

The phone is a new style Motorola Razr V and it's only available here in Canada for the Bell network so cases like Otterbox aren't available unfortunately.I had some flimsy gel type case on it but that didn't do any good.

I went with this phone in particular because it was brand new and I figured iPhones are everywhere I'd like to be different. :o|
A bud of mine works with a guy that repairs iPhones on the side and he's looking into the availability of parts for this one so hopefuly I will have it back up and running in a few days.

I've got an IPhone I can't live with out anymore. I as well I'm in the construction trade. I've ruined at least 5 phones until I finally paid 40 bucks for an otter box. Best investment to date.

I'm in construction as well and have a Verizon GzOne its water proof dropped it off many ladders or lifts and basically indestructable it only is flip call/text and allows my buds to send me dirty pics of the bar room ladies they meet.what more do you need

X2 on the GzONE! My work gave me one brand new 3 years ago and it wont die! Layed in the bottom of a mud puddle for 15 minutes, dredged the phone out with a flat shovel and threw it on the heater...still works like a champ! My personal phone is another matter....insured and gets replaced at least twice a year!

I will totally agree with the GZone. I have had mine run over many times. Dropped into the lake, dropped in mud and oversprayed with gel coat. Oh, I clean the phone under the faucett no problems. The overspray, again no problem just wipe with acetone. I have dropped it so many times from a 10' ladder I can't count. If it every fails and some day it will. I will definatly get another. Al

Well an update on the busted glass on my Razr,I found a repair shop that can fix it for me to the tune of like $150 plus taxes. What an expensive lesson I learned. If it wont come out don't force it :o| .
