Triple Piped 700 Triple
Okay here goes...
Some background on the '91 Exciter II I had, I bought it around '95-96, I sold it around '99-00 and loved the sled when I had it. It rode like a dream and had good "giddy up and go" (as my dad would have said), as a matter of fact my brother had a '95 v-max 600 that was GYT twin piped and my dad and brother went out for a rip shortly after i got it. When they came back my brother was PISSED that my dad had consistantly ran away from a supposedly quick twin piped 600... and had gotten a compliment from dad - "she GOES" (brought a big smile to my face), When I bought the sled it had about 3800 miles on the odo and the suspension was hit as the previous owner NEVER greased the suspension and rode it hard, plus I had to weld the front suspension arm as it was broke... So I made new cross shafts at work instead of buying them... The sled was piped with a Decker pipe and had to have some clutch work done(I would imagine), otherwise stock to my knowledge.
So onto my dilemma...
I am looking at purchasing an Exciter II SX and thinking about getting pretty wild with it, but dont know at the moment if some of my ideas will need to be shelved as I will need to get motor specs and other information as I go...
BUT first a Question - OR, should I just get a regular Exciter II and "go nuts" - read on...
SO..... I am going to let the cat out of the bag...
If I build this sled, I remember Bender Racing offering a widening kit that got welded in, my widening kit would consist of a complete '96 v-max 600 pogo style long travel suspension installed where the stock exciter suspension was installed. So the ski center to center would I believe go from 38 to 42"... Correct???
I would like to either pipe or twin pipe this sled along with massage the ports(along with other motor mods) to try to squeeze most is not all of the available power out of the 570cc powerplant and still run pump gas and have it be as least finicky as possible.. I would like to install the newer yamaha style primary (and secondary) clutch(s) to gain as much efficiency and have availability to as many clutch and clutching parts as possible... Will this work or am I dreaming???(Tell me)
I will need to look into the long travel rear suspension (figure out and engineer what I need to to make it work)...
add a 1" track with studs I know I read some where that it may be tight to do this(add studs)...(info please - If you would)...
Would it be wise to do the BeTheViper wide running board conversion on this??? (Ideas)...
This is a few of the ideas that I am kicking around and need to put on paper so that I don't get lost when and if the project happens... Thanks in advance for your ideas and advice. Bandit

I'm not sure if you've been reading about our FB page. I'm sure Prankster will post a link. WHere in S.E. Mi. are you?
I'll be riding mine this weekend at Houghton Lake (TUT). I broke the cabke reel on my SRX just now, soooo. Until I can find a new one...
I've got a front cross tube out of a 600 Vmax sitting out in the backyard (not for long).
You can make pretty good power w/a 570, I'm going to try finding my PSI lake racer porting templates when I clean the garrage for an upcoming reassembly of my Vette.
What you are considering doing is being done over there (FB). Lots of hybrids. There is a guy over there that just put his SX up for sale. Very nice sled. Take a look.

Well, I have learned that the motor has been ported from Yamaha so I think thats out... Unless I go big bore - 600 vmax motor... and I have also learned that the primary clutch is similar to the current style sx chassis just has the short cap on it... Also thinking about rolling the chaincase so that I can squeeze a taller lugged track with studs under it... Plus soame tunnel sheet metal mods... Boy oh boy is the brain churnin'...Sxr700Bandit said:Okay here goes...
