I just replaced my sliders but I can't get either of the screws to go back in. They go about half way and then get really tough to turn. It's almost like they are cross threading, but from what I can tell they are not. Any suggestions? I read on here somewhere that someone replaced the screws with bolts or something.
Thanks for any help

One thing you need to know is to make absolutely sure that you do not cross thread those screws. If in fact they are cross threaded, you might have to find a long bolt and a matching nut, drill a hole throught the rail and replace it like they used to do on the older sleds. maybe you can try a tap on it as well. Those are very important to take your time on and not to strip.

Take the hyfax back out and try to thread the screws. If you still cannot get them to go in, you have mucked up the threads. You could get a tap and clean them out that way, or do what was described above.

Look at a Cat and see how they keep their hyfax in place.

From an experienced cross-threader (don't like the sound of that ), dont try and leave the screw in there even if it threads almost almost all the way, it will come out and so will your hyfax while on the trail, been there, done that!!!

I sheared my screw off one time and had the hyfax wrap around in the skid....that wasnt a fun thing to have happen way out on the trail.

This has happend to me a lot the last couple of years when I replaced hyfax. two things are happening. The end of the hyfax is probally not squared off so the hole does doesn't line up. The other thing that happens is the hole is not punched clean and when the hyfax is installed small pieces of plastic close the hole up. I always run a drill bit thru the hole. If you want to pull them off this is what I did. I took a punch and heated it up and cleaned up the holes. The screw went right in.

My srx uses a bolt and nut like the cats! way easier! Soon it'll have an expert X in it

Thanks for all of the help guys, I think I'm going to try the Cat approach. If that doesn't work, I'll figure something out.
