srx 600 was only made in 98-99, should have no problem keeping up with a 05 rev, i walk my buddies 04 all the time

If it's a 2001 it must be an SXr 600. Not an srx. The doo will probably beat that sled.

yeah my mistake it is a 2001 sxr 600 im just hoping its a good sled do you think i need to be concerned about miles ( 6800) or should it be good to go? and do you know what size battery its needs for the eletric start?
How much? Given the issues, it should be under $1,000 with that mileage.
That's a good motor and winds out nicely. They have the same bottom end as the ultra reliable redhead 700 and can keep up with one till about 70. If the bottom end is solid you will have a good reliable sled. I actually like the sound of the 600 better than my 700, they kind of sing once they get going.

you will want to do spacers and or reed notch or vforce reeds to get that back boost port unblocked. also drill a hole up your muffler. Nice sound and doesn't loose power
It's a decent motor but no power house for sure.

Personally,
I would shy away from it. Carbs gummed up, lines frozen. What else is wrong with it? It's always a crap shoot but you could probably find another one that is atleast running. 900 bucks is 900 bucks...it's your money.

Offer him $500 and if it turns out that something is screwed in the engine you could most likely make your money back parting out what's left.
