Recently put my sled out on Craigslist (3 weeks ago), to see who may have a "family" type sled out there to trade; straight up, provided it was 97 or newer, in as good of shape, and has no mechanical needs to run. I need reverse. I don't have a ride-on/ride-off trailer, and I'm getting too old for this sh!t to keep dragiging a sled off of a trailer.

Just received an offer for a 97 Polaris (Sorry, no Yamah offers yet...) XLT 600, that looks to be in as good shape as my sled. It's 2-up, 3 cyl., elec. start & reverse. Given that it has all I had asked for in the trade, it books for $600 less than my sled does currently.

What do you think? Should I forego the value, and take what I am needing? Or, should I hold out...

No way! You need to be in the mid 2000 year with polaris to match the technology of the SRX. Those XLT's are like riding something from the 80's. Keep looking!!

keep the srx. save up $1500 buy an older yamaha twin or just get a sxr 600 with reverse put afew bucks into it and bam great sled for 2 grand and under.

my brother and one of my good friends both had those xlt 600 nuthin but trouble.hard starting even with electric start they flood ed out all the time.nice riding sled but not reliable.id try to trade for a viper with reverse and two up seat if i was you.just my opinion

We had a 96 xcr 600. That was just a xlt with a little more power and more aggressive suspension. It was a great reliable sled that got very good gas mileage. The only problem that settled ever had was a bearing went in the rear idler wheel and it the the outer shell was lost on the trail. It was harder than any of our other sleds to start the first time for the season, but otherwise no issues. Now the srx motor was a beast. The motor was ahead of its time, but if you can get past that the xlt won't have the power that the srx does you will be happy with it.

FWIW, 2 ups have higher resale value than 1 person sleds in the used market.
