sled runs excellent but at idle gauge wont work if i rev sled to over 2500rpm gauge works fine. Is this stator or other issues. I could no find rub on harness and re-routed he harness under motor.
I dont want o replace stato if there are othe possabilities.
Thanks.

Just saw your other post.. lights are an issue! Check grounds like suggeted, but with my experience it was the stator when that happened to me..

yep, when ya unplug the lights and then everything else is good, its 90% the stator, just isnt makin enuff power to supply everything. Only put in a yamaha stator the aftermarket ones are junk and youll be doing the job twice!!

X2 :) :letitsnow

I guess testing the stator using ohm meter wont tell me anything.
Each white wire combo reads 0.5ohm. There is one coil on te stator that seems much darker then others. not sure if that means anything.

oh it will tell ya the wire isnt broke but thats about it, and its temp sensative as to the readings. What the ohm test wont tell you is if the stator is weak, you already have done that test by unplugging the lights and have the other functions work correctly. This is what I try to tell guys the ohm test isnt a 100% check, its fine a for a basic run thru but not a driveability problem like you have (low output). If you unplug the load(lights) and the speedo and engine run great its got a weak stator in it. Only fix is to replace it.

you could check the voltage regulator wiring, make sure its not burnt there, if good, sorry to say ya need a new stator

One last question. Whats the easiest way to remove the torx head screws in he magneto. Those things strip so easy. Can I use a bolt to replace the torx head.
I have stripped a few of them before.

buy yourself a impact driver, they come with differnt bits and fit the phillips head screws perfect, simple strike with a hammer and they come right out and they are not stripped. that tool is used ALL the time on these engines, it worth every penny. You can get them all over ebay if you dont have a local hardware stroe.
