sled starts and idles fine but will only move with choke on. carbs were cleaned last spring. could have had some bad gas left over this year.

With ethanol and small holes in the pilots cleaning carbs is 100% a must for pre-season.

I thought the same thing. 99 yamaha 700 tripple leaves unknown variables, but the run on half choke is usually a tell tale sign of plugged pilots. Good place to start either way.

yes its the 98 yamaha 700 triple. thanks for the quick reply. where are the pilot jets at? do i need to take the carbs out?

there is more than 1 700 triple in 98. there is the powervalved srx and the redhead sleds.
the pilot jets are in the carbs. if you go to the ty tech link in the toolbar up top, then go to snowmobile tech you will find all kinds of useful info. in there you will find some good write-ups on cleaning the carbs with pics.
