So this weekend was the first weekend I was able to go out on the lake were I live, and I gotta say now that my suspension and clutching have been set for me, the SRX is a whole different animal!, I have never been able to go as fast as I did the other day, I got on to Grass Lake, and on my way back I decided I was going to burry the needle for the first time, but when I got it to 115 I heard this loud thump! So i slowly went to shore to find that the right side of my track exploded and wedged itself in-between one of my boogie wheels, I managed to un wedge it and limp home, found another SRX on the way home, he was nice enough to follow me back to make sure I got back safe. funny thing was he was a ski-doo driver he said " I just bought this SRX for a back up.... but this thing rips better than my normal machine!" so now my uncle knows a guy who owns a yamaha dealer in Twin Lakes WI and is going see if he can cut me a deal on a new track, I want to keep the 1 inch paddles, but don't really know what type of track i should get, and should I install it myself? my uncle has been in the sport for a while, and I ordered a SRX service manual. shouldn't be to hard right? and if you guys wanna see the busted up track let me know i can get some pics up for ya, thanks for reading ;)!

I vote for tackleing it yourself. Take your time and spend those labor dollars towards any bearings/bushings while you have it apart. Look over the W arm good for any cracking. Having a good understanding of how it all works helps with tunning and spotting something going a miss in the future.

I'd shoot for at least a 1 and 1/4 track. Any of the other maker will work, artic, doo and polaris. opens up your options to used tracks. Depending on mileage i would also replace jackshaft bearings since your that close.A garage and a few hours you can do it yourself. Buy a case of beer and invite some snowmobile friends over, just don't open it till the sleds back together.

I would go 1" or 1.25" also.If you go 1" you can still stud it.Which if you run lakes alot you'll want studs.Let me know what track you decide on.I can sell you a new track, studs and complete bearing, seal kit at a great price.Rich

thanks for the quick replies everyone, I decided with my uncle that we were going do it ourselves, I ordered a manuel too for any future use of tearing apart my sled, my friend owns a marina on the chain, and he is going set me up with a 1 inch hacksaw track for $475, Richierich I sent you a PM regarding your post

Just quick piece of advise Take your time when taking it apart I know forsure your going too let some F BomB's go but it will all come apart if you take your time ! you can also run ATF fluid in you chain case works great !

Ebay had some brand new 1.25 ripsaw take off tracks for $300. I agree with Devil, check all your bearings while you are in there and replace them even if they are marginal. You don't want to tear it down all over again just to fix a bearing.

needaSRX what is ATF fluid, and i know to take my time, no sense in rushing, like VT said, dont want to have to tear it all down again hahahaha

Vt SRX i already have a 1 inch hacksaw, just got it yesterday, and we are gunna replace everything no worries, gunna do it right the first time :D

The best price i have found pn tracks is at snow city in bronson,mi. Call and talk to jim. He will beat just about anyones price.
