I roached my skis a couple of years ago and need to replace them...without going aftermarket, what would be a better choice; stock viper skis or mountain viper skis? I was thinking/hoping that the mountain skis may improve my floatation on powder. Will they fit right onto the stock non-mountain viper? Also, are there any other skis that would direct fit onto my 03 Viper without modification? I saw on Craigslist that someone was parting out 2 vipers and they had listed ... Skis (Nytro with dual carbides)... do these direct fit? would they work well if they do fit?
Thanks to all.
Thanks to all.

Viper, nytro, rx1, non ps apex's, atacks, vectors, all are pretty much bolt on as long as you use the stock rubber under the spindle. I have a viper set for sale if you are interested. Gotta get some pics up...

what would be the benefit of turning to the Nytro skis? how are they different than the reg viper skis?

I would actually like to just get a pair of mountain viper skis and slap on there. Just a matter of finding a good used pair to do so.

There were two versions as well of the viper skis. The standard skis were standard keel and there were optional deep keels. The early rx1 and warriors had them. Got a blue set on my ER and like them.

I ruined my 02 viper skis and put on my buddies 2010 nytro xtx take offs. I noticed no difference. Except they didnt cost me much and they looked like new. Bolt right on, except if I remember right the nytro bolts were longer. If I was buying skis for a viper I would get fatter ones. I have a xtx nytro with mtx skis and I think they would work on a viper.

I have an 04 viper mtn and was wondering about getting new skis for my sled, just wondering if anyone's has recommendations or if it would be worth buying aftermarket. My stock skis just seem too narrow and would like some more flotation in the powder

2005 mountain viper skis are roughly 7 inches wide and would do just what you r looking to do; those are the skis I'm looking for as well

just make shure you buy the spindle tubes and spacers for the yamaha mountain skis. it will work with a bolt and washers for a bit but a good hard hit and the bolt breaks. been there and done that.
brother ran the phazer mountain skis on his viper and i have a set installed on my dad's venture. bought both sets used here on the 4 stroke side.

I have an 04 mtn, will I still need the tubes and spacers too? Or is just the ski bottoms wider and will bolt right on to mine

the 04's used the same ski as a stock viper, so you will need the tubes and spacers.

If you do alot of trail riding see if you can find a set of ski doo precisions. Handle really good and because of the 2 shorter carbides instead of the single long one, steers much easier.
As for flotation in powder, just use the throttle to keep the front end up. But they are better than a stock ski for flotation. Therers a million pairs out there, shouldnt cost you more than 100 bucks

If you get Ski-doo , skis... get the pilot skis, not the precisions skis !!!!!
The handle so much better .... we did install Pilot 5.7 skis on my son's viper
Unbeliveable handling... cornering is just amazing... it's just like being on railway track
