I know there's tons of reading to do as far as clutching is concerned and I admit to being green on the subject. Used to have a clutch guy in our group, but that was years ago.
First off, I'm pretty happy with the stock SRX. I cant see alot of room for improvement when you ride with no studs. It already has way more power than you can practically use for aggressive trail riding.
Second is my riding style and terrain. Tight bush and rough with wot runs across fields and back into bush.
I run with experienced riders with newer quicker sleds. 800 etec, turbo and non turbo Nytro's, Pro Rush and so on. Thankfully it's social with frequent stops. lol
I fair pretty well with the short wot runs across the fields and tend to lead in the bush or they slow me down. At one time I rode 7 nights a week for 3-6 hours a night and bangin through the bush is what I love on a sled.
I always laugh when I see guys that want to run with theyre feet out back. They do well for the most part, but if your going to run hard, your going to get thrown. Feet tucked in and legs for shocks.
I'm all brake or all throttle and my clutchs tend to slam during the transgression. I slide into and partway around turns before stabbing the thrill flipper. Timing is everything and if the track wont spin immediately in the corner.....well, you all know what happens. So the only real improvement for me would be quicker shifting.
The clutches or clutch, I'm not sure which, cant keep up and it creates situations that get me bouncing off things in the bush. My sled gets beat up pretty badly, but I myself, like to come home unscathed. Sleds can be pounded back into shape.
Dont really care about top end, just fluid shifting.
Anyone with simular riding style on a SRX that can help?

you would want pretty much the std clutch set up for a srx(8dn20 weights and the w/w/w front spring) but go with a slightly bigger multi angle helix with a shallower finish. That helix will upshift a little quicker with slightly more angle and backshift even quicker with less finish angle. I would say something like a 48-42, 49-43, this will make it get up and go slightly quicker and help you with the on and off gas type riding your doing. I would also use a green sec. spring with it to help aid the quick return from the off throttle.
This will over rev on topend but you dont seem to be worried about nor doing that kind of riding. You can always add a heavier rivet in the tip and cure that to a minimum where the over rev will only be noticeable for a longer distance, which your not doing.
This front spring, helix and rear spring will get you up and going quicker and also quicker to rego again from a slammed stop and gas it situation.

Appreciate the advise. I have some time to tinker with the rain coming down.
Where should I start with the wrap?
Are these springs Yamaha or am I looking at a particular manufacturer?
It's always frustrating to tinker being I only have one parts source here. Dealer.

these are oem yamaha springs I am referring to and a aftermarket helix.
There is the option of using a yamaha oem helix, it would be the one from a rx1 sled, its listed as a 51/43 but they really only shift like a 48/42 so that would be a option if all you can do is get stuff from a dealer.
I might be able to help you out, not a problem shipping to canada, let me see what I have around here. I hate to see you guys always be bled out at the dealers.
on the rear spring wrap... be best to try 70 first with what your doing there in paticular in my opinion. should make it be pretty revy and quick on the gas.

I dont mind paying to play. It is what it is, but it's a multi manufacturer dealer with one decent parts jockey that recently made the switch from automotive. Good guy and soaking up knowledge fast, but he is theyre ONLY asset that I can see.
Fairly new business that seems doomed to fail. Bobcats, Polaris and Yamaha.
I appreciate your offer to dig around for parts, but hold off on that thought for now. A buddy needs a crate of parts so I'll see what he's ready to order maybe just try for one shot at it.
I'll have to do the research and come up with the part numbers myself or I wont get the right stuff if I rely on the dealer.
Can you recommend manufactures for the helix? They will order aftermarket for me, but again, clueless.

yamaha part numbers:
white/white/white primary spring-90501-583L1-00
green dot sec spring-90508-556A2-00
yamaha rx1 helix-8FA-17604-00-00
if you go aftermarket for helix, pioneer motorsports or dalton are good ones.

lol, to easy. I take a bow.
I'll check into them ordering a helix.
I'm a victim of my own stubbornness where ordering is concerned.
I run a business with no cell, credit cards, phone listing or advertising.
Tried advertising once....got to busy. Got in the way of family, friends and fun.
