I just bought my son a 1989 SRV for his first sled. I have not had one since I was a kid and that was a old Rupp. I have never dealt with oil injection, I have had 4 wheelers and had to mix gas. The sled I just bough has the oil injection unhooked. The guy I bought it from took the oil tank off and plugged the lines but left the oil pump on the motor. I was woundering if anyone has a pick they could post of how to run the lines so I can hook it back up. Since this is for my 13 year old son I want the oil injection to make it easy for him.

I have a 93 VK540 and toasted engine , so I rebuilt an older SR540
engine . It has your style in oil inj...it injects into nipples in the base of
the manifold... see if still attached or how they were bunged at manifold.
The oil feeds in to pump by way of double nipples. not sure why..
Need to fasten a tank to pump and let machine idle while you pull out the
oil cable and see how much if any, oil bubbles up towards manifold..
If they are still hooked to manifold, warm them up and slip them off to see.
The old style complaint is , they push a lot of oil in as engine slowed down
from wide open and then chug the oil when you throttle up again..misfire
and belch of smoke..
The newer style scares me more ,, they took the two output lines and hooked
them into a special dual nipple in fuel lines ahead of fuel pump..so when you
go wide open it pushes extra oil into line ahead of pump and by the time you
slowdown it might just be getting to carb , meanwhile it was WOT on idle mix.
I prefer direct style and hooked it up that way..
...
Basically ,,, does the pump work, can you hook up cables? find a tank?
My engine died from a crankseal , starting aid problem (before me)
good luck

Mix up some premix to run in sled , sounds like it already is
running on it anyway ...hook up the tank and possibly two input hoses
and try to bleed air out of the lines before starting...there is a bleed
screw down under in a near impossible spot to get at with a 2ft screw driver.

..........The short pipes going from pump
to the nipples on manifold ,,,(still there ?) . warm them up , slide
steel band/clamp down and pry them off ...
Mine was tested at an idle because my throttle link was already intact and
I didn't feel like fussing with the cable... Running at a high idle or raise
track , watch for oil to burp up as it runs...once you are happy with the
result , hook them up.. Maybe run the tank of premix through as well and
you will get a comparison of how much more it smokes while running both.
If you PM me your email, I will try and send you a copy of tech book on
the oil pump. (I need to do from work)

I will have to take a look the next time I am at the house where I have it. Here are some picks of the motor if they help any.
