Electrical problem, Tach, headlight, and tail light erratic

'94 8CA1 VMAX 600


Put 200+ miles on the sled in the past 48 hours, took off today and my tach as dropping out. It wasnt until we stopped that someone mentioned that my head light was on/off as well. I've checked all of my wiring for rub through, tried to connect a ground jumper from the engine to the chassis with no luck. Do I have a rectifier on its last leg or a cdi unit failing?

Never mind. Looks like the oil pump blew up and is fouling everything!! $&@&!!!

oil pump has nothing to do with your head/tail lights. check your stator. pretty well positive that will sort out your electrical issue

when it blows up and oil fouls the stator it surely does.
