Hello everyone, i hope someone can help me out with my sled. I have a 1998 yamaha venture, 600 twin. When the sled is running at idle, it runs on the right side cylinder only. If I go for a quick ride, it will run really good wide open or at half throttle. So far, I've replaced plugs, ignition coil, spark plug boots. compression is good and even in both cylinders. I replaced both carbs. I emptied the gas tank and put new gas in the tank. I removed the exhaust and inspected the piston skirts for damage, the are ok as well. I dis-assembled the fuel pump and cleaned it. Nothing changed. I am getting frustated with my sled at this point and just wondering if someone can help me out please.

How Is the compression?? Sometimes if you have a cylinder low on compression it wont come to life until your in the upper rpm's. My first thought would be a plugged pilot circuit in the left carb, but if you replaced the carbs it would be coincidental that your new carbs would show the same problem in the same cylinder. hope this helps.

Yeah, i cleaned the carbs the first time. then someone suggested i replace carbs because the were bad for carbs. So i picked another set for 240$.
tried those, no difference. I was thinking crank seals as well, I tried spraying brake clean at each end of the crank, but nothing happens. If I had a crank seal issue internally, how would I know....white plug...?

NEVER USE BRAKE CLEAN in a situation where it will be burned!! There is a chemical released when its burned called fosgene (not sure on the spelling). It is poisioness. Im sure there are some refrigeration guys out there with a better explaination on this.
Anyway...a crank seal sounds like a possibility also as lucky said.
