My 1980 Ss 440 has a bad grind or knock so I replaced all of my bearings. And that did nothing. So I'm almost positive I have a bent driveshaft. (Shaft underneath track twards the front) would a driveshaft from an 1980 srx440 fit on my 1980 Ss440. That's the only one I can find forsale.

I'm not sure if this is how it is supposed to be but I have a drive shaft from an exciter and a srx. The srx drive shaft has 2 drivers and 2 guide wheels. The exciter only had the 2 drivers. Other than that they looked identical.

80 SS had a different track with an odd pitch (3.29"? I think) that was different from later SS's and all SRX/Exciters (2.52"). If your 80 hasn't been converted that will be a problem and you may have to swap your drivers onto another shaft.
I can't say for sure without looking things up but I don't theink the 80 SRX shaft will work on the SS. It may but the chassis/chaincases are all different. The SS has more in common with SRV's of that era.
Go online and look up part #'s for the various models/years and compare.
Here's a good place to look.
